Will your current PC handle Windows Vista 2007?

Check the following link if you want to see what Microsoft advise for there next version of windows  Vista, due out around Jan 2007.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/capable.mspx

Below are the lowest specs Microsoft recommends, and as always the are the care minimum to run there new opertaing system.

Windows Vista Capable PC includes at least:

  • A modern processor (at least 800MHz).
  • 512 MB of system memory.
  • A graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable

Personally I feel the min spec needed is:

1 Gig Ram, at least a 2Ghz processor

and a 128meg or 256meg ram graphic card,

SATA hard disk 100 gig.

It will run on what Microsoft suggest, but will be VERY SLOW.

So, if you are buying a new machine, save extra and go for quite a powerful machine and not the cheap budget ones that are around a lot now.

Take care

ThermalTake Water Cooling

Thought it was about time I had a bash at this watercooling for these cpu’s.

I bought what seemed a very cheap bit of kit, and was suprised just how much you get for your £60.00.

I ordered and received a ThermalTake Bigwater Kit.

Hooked at all up to a Intel Pentuim 4 , 3Ghz cpu.

Then started to bump at the speed until it would not post.

That has so far got my trusty 3ghz cpu now runnning at 3.72Ghz.

Flat out the CPU temp is around 40 degrees. I am sure with a much better mother board with better bios etc and decent memory , you these to run higher.

I dont have any flashy options on the board I tried it with to up cpu voltage etc, so was happy with what I got from it.. I know these can go much faster if you match everything up with higher quality parts.

Intresting and kept me quiet for a while 😉

Would recommend this kit from ThermalTake, good build quality and such good value for money.

As always, remember water and electric does not mix, so unless you know what you are doing, better leave this to someone who does.

Graham 🙂

Airbus A-320 Crash

MOSCOW (Reuters) – An Armenian airliner crashed into the Black Sea off the Russian coast in heavy rain on Wednesday, and all 113 passengers and crew on board were presumed killed, the Russian emergencies ministry said.

The plane, an Airbus A-320, was trying to land at Sochi, a popular seaside holiday spot in southern Russia, in bad weather when it slammed into the sea.

Comment…

Also read that the age of the aircraft (1995) was being looked at.

11 years seems quite young these days for the age to maybe be a part of the crash though?

Recently serviced plane by all accounts and a experienced crew on board and no reported problems we are told.

Although weather seems to be indicated as a possible reason, maybe windsheer??

HEDGEHOG AWARENESS WEEK

30th April – 6th May 2006

Take part in the survey :- http://www.hogwatch.org.uk/

LONDON (Reuters) – The search is on for Britain’s small, prickly, shy — and rapidly disappearing — hedgehogs.

On the eve of Hedgehog Awareness Week, the British Hedgehog Preservation Society and People’s Trust for Endangered Species are launching HogWatch — a plea for people to report where and when they last saw one of the inquisitive but shy animals.

“It is vital to know where hedgehogs are still present and determine why their numbers appear to be falling,” said Paul Bright, an ecology lecturer at London University.

“Hedgehogs have been around for 20 million years — we want to ensure they will be around in the next century.”

A recent survey calculated that the number of hedgehogs, which have adapted as readily to living in urban gardens as in the countryside, fell by one fifth in Britain between 2001 and 2005.

Participants in the Internet survey are asked to go to www.HogWatch.org.uk and answer three simple questions, with the accumulated results being reproduced as a hog map of Britain.

“Letting us know if you haven’t seen hedgehogs is just as important as letting us know that you have,” Bright said.
