Just got my much awaited FrSky DFT Telemetry System For my futaba TX’s
Always thought Windows 7 phone as a name was not one of the best, but I dare say Microsoft is hoping that maybe people will tie up the successful Windows 7 OS with there new phone launch.
From what I have seen and read so far, cant say I feel it will hurt the iPhone or the Android phones out there.
Microsoft always seem to be the one behind with there phones, maybe this one will change all that, but I have a feeling it wont gain them much traction.
But I guess at least it wont have the signal problems that some iPhones users are having, although that wont hurt Apples sales anyway, if they say the drop in signal is a design feature then they will get away with it with there users and most of the press 😉
Windows 7 phone does seem to be copying how the first iPhone was when it came out, like no third party multitasking and no copy and paste.
Cant see why they would want to get there phone at the stage the iPhone was at the start, but there you go and they have promised it will have those features down the road.
Just seems a strange way to start to me, but the Engadget preview of Windows 7 phone was quite positive, so maybe it will do much better than the press says, although to be fair to Microsoft most of the press are buddies with Apple these days, so launching any new phone is going be hard, even if it is pretty good.
Had a look at the Mars rover page like I do now and then and see the rover Spirit is still not sending any comms etc back and has not done so since 22 March 2010.
Find it fascinating that if no contact was due to low battery power, how does it comes back online?
Was the power so low it shut down and was able to use the bit of power it does get each day to keep enough power to keep any of the electronics going?
I think the batteries are some kind of li-poly batteries and I know myself they are okay with being frozen, as when I store my own lipo’s I use for my RC helis, I sometimes store them at something like half storage voltage and they are fine after they have thawed out.
I know if you tried to run them from frozen I know they don’t work very well at all.
So got me thinking, do the solar panels on the rover produce enough power during the sunnier days to provide a charge and any excess that will just power up the comms side? Or does the voltage of each power pack have to hit a certain figure first?
Wonder if the engineers put in a mode that if the batteries wont charge, try using daily power to run the comms and see what happens mode?
I know if those batts fall below a certain voltage they will be near useless, so got me thinking what if.. 😉
Interesting to see with it getting more sunlight soon whether it comes back and says hi!
Okay been using the glasses below for a while now and a update.

First off they are NTSC, and also they put this really annoying crap orange time stamp on video permanently in the worse font ever.
The video stutters and jumps all the time, missing loads of frames.
They really cant handle low light very well or when you change from a dark background to a light one, and the annoying flashing pink frames on mine at least. The stuttering might be improved a bit by a faster SD card, but think the only way to really cure it is to get into the firmware and reduce the frames per second from 30 which it is now to maybe 20.
The SD micro card that comes with it , which is my case was the 4 gig version is also a cheap generic type, prob in part why it stutters so much.
Also the USB version has to be version V1 as it takes so long to transfer the files via its USB port, a quicker way to def take out SD card, put it into a card adaptor and stick it into the pc
I have tried ever method possible in the time.txt and you just cant remove the time and date on screen, it must be hard coded in the firmware and there is not as yet any tool, I have been able to find to modify the firmware in this camera version.
The still pics are 2560×1920 , but they are up converted from 640×480 so they look really poor at that res.
The camera res is 640×480 and on taking it apart to find out, the video chip is the Syntek STK1262BLQG
These are a great idea, but what China is pushing out at present are cheap and cheerful and poor quality.
So many different firmware versions for all these types of glasses and bubble gum cameras, you can never get 2 the same 😉
Good points, yes there are some! The camera recorded right until the 4 gig card was full up on a full charge. Handy if you need to take a quick video of something, and not too bothered about quality or missing some frames.
I have seen these cheaper than the 28 pounds I paid from a China seller on eBay , but problem is you just don’t know for sure what video processor your getting, what version firmware etc, so you may be lucky and getting a better lens and video chip or end up with the one like I have.
Are they worth it though? For £28 I guess if you want a basic account of something you are watching and not bothered about quality then yes, they do work.
But for all other reasons, wait until someone makes one with a much better lens and you can be sure what the hardware spec is and what firmware you are really getting, or just make one out of a small bubble gum cam and stick it to some glasses 😉
Also beware of the ones saying they are HD etc, they are just the normal 640×480 up converted to a higher res, so will still be poor.
Found another clip from this 1970’s series Model world presented by Bob Symes and this is a short clip on Control line planes.
Makes you wonder whether the BBC still have the series in there archives or was it erased??
