Firefox Browser the best?

This week Firefox has hit the 400 million download mark, and according to figures now has just over 17% of the Internet Browser market.

No surprise to myself as I think it beats Microsoft’s IE7 hands down.

It looks better, is safer, has great plugins and themes and the list goes on.

If you still have not tried it yet, you must πŸ˜‰

iPod Touch model

Apart from  anoyning current 8 gig iPhone $599 users with a $200 price cut, I find the new iPod Touch model intresting, its almost a iPhone, but without the phone part.

Now surely as it has wi-fi , that means you can use it on wireless with someone like skype to make calls? If not as standard, once a 3rd party releases a hack etc?

Surely this will also dent the iPhone sales? I have not read the full specs etc yet, but if the iPod touch has a web browser, then could people then just surf the net and use other 3 party online companies to make calls over the net?

I am sure a lot of current iPhone users already use the wireless connection to surf the web already as the edge network in the usa is not that fast.

I heard and read a lot at first that said , Apple will never release anything to risk there iPhone sales and now we have $200 price cuts and you now has the touch models on the scene…

So either now a £399 iPhone and a 2 year contract to AT&T or $299 for a Touch iPod and use it on wireless without a extra $100 and a 2 year contract tied to it πŸ˜‰

I bet AT&T cant be that happy about this either!

iPhone Price cut

Apple has cut the price of its 8gig iPhone from $599 to $399.

And surely a kick in the teeth for the bulk of many mac fans who bought there phone when Apple launched it, including myself who recently bought one from the USA.

Apple never drops it’s prices so quick on a new product like that, and you really cant buy Steve Jobs excuse of it was done for the holiday season, and it seems Apple stock reflected this yesterday dropping 5.1% on the day.

My take would be after the mac fans bought up the first 750,00 units, a sharp slowdown has been seen by Apple and also with the many other phone makers out there with much cheaper and better equiped hardward than the iPhone, Apple had no choice but to cut the price.

But I really think Apple should refund everyone who originally bought the $599 phones at the start, rather than just those who bought within the last 14 days.

Still one must feel sorry for those who adore Apple and bought the phones at the start, as it is those fans that Jobs has kicked in the teeth. Yes early adopters always pay more, but to cut $200 off it so quick, says panic mode to me.

My take is Apple should have launched the phone at $299 and unlocked if they really wanted to reach the masses.

Now watch those eBay prices drop πŸ˜‰

CB600 Hornet exhaust stud problems

Well, got my exhaust gaskets to repair what sounded like blown ones and taking off the rad on this and exposing the damage of rain and neglect by who ever owned this machine was a eye opener!

After leaving overnight with a good squirting of wd40, I tried undoing the nuts on the exhaust studs. These bolts were corroded and a pig to undo, one sheered clean off to the casing and the other one broke in half leaving half the nut still on tight. Now I can see the only way to get this exhaust off and access to the studs is to cut away the corroded on nut and I will have to use a screw extractor to hopefully remove the one that sheered off.

So I got 4 off, but leaves these 1 to remove and 1 broken stub.

As you can see in the pics, this is going to need a lot of cleaning up and painting as there is a lot of rust etc behind the rad, and no surprise really with a design that sits the rad right behind the exhaust headers and all the bolts etc.

I would imagine loads are going to have or had this problem on this model.

There is no space to get a nut splitter in on the half stuck bolt and as its rusted on , I think I will have to drill or grind it off, the one thats sheered off, I shall have to drill a small hole in it and then get a scew extractor into it. I just hope the screw extractor tip dont break off on the hole as that is a worse case sernario of using that tool.

Still untill the new tools arrive I will set about taking apart and cleaning up the rad and fan which looks like its been through a war;-)
